Youth to the People is, without a doubt, one of the most popular skin-care brands amongst Allure staffers and readers alike — as an example, the Superfood Cleanser has won our Readers’ Choice Award three years in a row. Yes, the brand does have some sort of “je ne sais quoi” that exudes an effortlessly cool vibe, but its innovative, skin-enhancing formulas are also praiseworthy enough to win our most coveted awards. Case in point? The Polypeptide-121 Future Cream just picked up a 2022 Best of Beauty Award in our Clean category. But now that Youth to the People has become one of the biggest skin-care brands on the market, the brand is teaming up with indie fragrance darling DedCool to step into new, fragrant territory.
Together, the two Los Angeles-based brands have created an herbaceous, ethereal perfume aptly named Cosmic Release. According to a press release sent to Allure, Cosmic Release is a limited-edition collaboration that took two years to create and is the brainchild of Youth to the People co-founder Greg Gonzalez and DedCool creator Carina Chaz. “What started as a DM exchange about shared vision and values in the responsible beauty space evolved into an expressive eau de parfum that perfectly blends both brands into a balanced fragrance for all,” the press release states.
Consider the fragrance as an aromatic ode to brisk Los Angeles nights. It starts off with a floral bouquet of violet, jasmine, and a hint of herbal rosemary, but as it dries down, you can expect grassy vetiver, woody cedar, and warm amber to take over. The result? A harmonious blend of florals and woods that you’d expect to take in during a late autumn stroll through SoCal.
Cosmic Release is available starting today, September 29, but only while supplies last at youthtothepeople.com and dedcool.com. There’s no word on whether this fragrance will come back once it sells out, so make sure to grab a bottle of this woody-floral concoction while you still can.
