Matthew T. Hall, editorial and opinion director at the San Diego Union-Tribune, has left. He wrote in his farewell note, of which the full note can be accessed here:
“It was a good run with great people. We set out to make San Diego better, and something happened along the way. Our readers made us better. Thank you, dear readers, for holding us accountable, for your time and trust, your criticism and kindness. You made a hard job worth it every day.”
During his more than two-decade run at the Union-Tribune, Hall held the posts of reporter, columnist, and public engagement editor.
He also reported for the Concord Monitor in New Hampshire and the online newspaper The San Diego Daily Transcript, which covers business.
Hall has a bachelor’s degree in English and journalism from the University of New Hampshire.
