The Dior Rouge Forever Transfer-Proof Lipstick Is Exactly What It Claims to Be: See Photos, Editor Review

I have been hunting for lipstick that lasts all day with comfort. Put it this way, I want something moisturizing like a lip balm but long-lasting and pigmented like a liquid lipstick, but with a matte finish that’s not drying — not too much to ask for, right? On my search for this unicorn of a product, I stumbled across numerous TikTokers bragging about the longevity of the Dior Rouge Forever Transfer-Proof Lipstick, so I knew I had to try it.

Trust me when I say I’m all about drugstore makeup. However, there is something about a luxury item that warms me up inside — from the packaging, the expensive look and feel, and most importantly, how well it wears. Upon opening the Dior lipstick, I was immediately impressed with the packaging. The outer tube has a chic matte black finish with the Christian Dior logo stamped on the top and side of the casing. As for the inside, it’s a pretty standard retractable lipstick that holds the formula.

Speaking of the formula, before trying out the lipstick, I reached out to cosmetic chemist Ginger King to tell me about what ingredients this baby is made of that makes it matte, moisturizing, and long-lasting. “Dior used silica and silicone resin to give the lipstick a matte finish, along with sweet almond and jojoba oils that provide moisturization,” she says. For the transfer-proof component, King says that solvent and copolymer sets like isododecane in the formula make it stay on for hours on end.

Now that chemistry class is over, it’s time to get to the application. Since I’m writing this review right before the holidays, I decided to go for a classic red, Forever Dior (shade 999) that works on all skin tones.

I normally apply lip liner to any and every lip look I do, but because I feel like that wouldn’t be fair to this review I went in and applied the lipstick to my bare mouth. Thankfully, the tip of the lipstick is slanted, making it really easy to define my cupid’s bow and apply coats precisely and cleanly. I was also really impressed with the color payoff of this lipstick. It swiped on like butter with such rich pigment.
