The first Best of Beauty Awards ran in Allure in 1996. And in the 27 years since, we’ve never wavered in our commitment to finding the products that don’t just do what they say they’ll do — they do it better than the rest. We test (and test, and test) and call upon a panel of expert judges — including top makeup artists, hairstylists, cosmetic chemists, dermatologists, and manicurists — in pursuit of the best of the best.
We are now accepting submissions for Allure‘s 2023 Best of Beauty Awards. Here’s everything you need to know about getting your product in front of our editors.
How to Submit Products for Consideration
This year we have created an automated submission form, which you can find HERE. The deadline for all submissions is Friday, November 11.
Before you begin, a few important notes:
Product launch date:
You can submit any product that will be available for purchase in mid-September 2023 when the awards are announced. With one important exception: Limited-edition products will not be considered.
Number of submissions:
In an effort to make our testing process as thoughtful and sustainable as possible, we ask that each brand limit submissions. In each of the main categories*, please submit no more than three new** products and no more than three products that launched prior to that time frame.
*The main Best of Beauty categories are Skin, Body, Hair, Makeup (Eyes), Makeup (Lips), Makeup (Base), Nails, Tools, Scent.
**New products are any that were not available for 2022 Best of Beauty testing, with launch dates between summer/fall 2022 and September 2023.
Product for testing:
Once we review all submissions, we will reach out to request samples for testing — as a rule, we ask for samples of new submissions that we did not have the opportunity to test in years past.
Testing timeline:
The beauty landscape has grown exponentially in recent years — so we need more time to test all the incredible brands out there. This year, we will start testing in late November. If you want to submit a 2023 launch that you don’t yet have a final launch date or MSRP for, please put “TBD” when prompted within the submission form and we will reach back out in Q1 2023 for more information.
Best of Beauty Clean
Best of Beauty also includes a Best of Beauty Clean seal, to celebrate the all-time best beauty products that meet the Allure Clean standard. Those submissions can also be made HERE, but require a $195 per product entry fee to support the due diligence involved in ensuring each product meets our standard. That fee can be submitted at Allure Best of Beauty 2023 Clean Product Submission Payment; if you have more than one Clean submission, please make sure to add quantity.
