The San Antonio Business Journal has hired James McCandless as a commercial real estate reporter.

He started on Monday.

McCandless previously was a fellow at Newsweek covering the automotive industry. He also spent three years as a reporter for Distressed Debt Daily and Preferred Stock Daily newsletters.

He also interned for the San Antonio Report.

McCandless is a graduate of St. Mary’s University.
