How Electional Astrology Influenced My Nose Job Date

It’s been roughly two and a half years since one of the best days of my life, October 10th, 2019. On this date, I got my nose done, rhinoplasty, and septoplasty after much careful planning. While during the first six months, I looked in the mirror each day, admiring the healing progress of my new nose, now, it’s just my nose and a great source of pride.

Recently, Bella Hadid made headlines by sharing that she regretted getting a nose job at 14, and after reading why, I feel for her. “I wish I had kept the nose of my ancestors,” Hadid, who is of Dutch and Palestinian descent, explained. It’s a reminder that why thankfully, cosmetic procedures are becoming less stigmatized; they still deserve careful thought and planning. As you’ll learn below, my decision to get a nose job derived from breaking my nose as a teenager, which changed how it looked. At the time, the doctor threw out surgery as an option, but my parents shrugged it off as unnecessary. So, when I was able to finally pay for it myself at age 30, I felt confident that it was the right decision for me, and I still couldn’t agree more.

“I think Sophie’s nose turned out exactly as we planned. Prior to surgery, we worked together during our consults to define our aesthetic goals, and two years later, she looks like she has the nose she was always meant to have, and she can breathe too! Every time I see a picture of her beautiful nose, I love it more,” my doctor, Dara Liotta, a double board-certified plastic surgeon in Manhattan specializing in rhinoplasty, says.

I knew that the decision was right, but as the author of Glamour Witch: Conjuring Style and Grace to Get What You Want and Allure’s resident astrology writer, I had to consult the stars. So, I asked Vice astrologer and author of The Astrology of Love & Sex and The Moon Sign Guide Annabel Gat (who also happens to be my best friend) when would be the most astrologically beneficial time to get it done. We settled on October 10th (10/10) during Libra season. After my procedure, Gat helped care for and hang out with me while I healed, and she loves my nose even more than I do.

“I love that time we spent together, and I look back on it very fondly. In the aftercare pamphlet that was given to you, it said something like “Congratulations” on your procedure, and I found it encouraging and uplifting because there is so much stigma around cosmetic procedures, and you don’t often hear people saying “congrats” for one. But, it is worth congratulating! Gat says. “So, now, two years later, I’d like to say, congrats, Sophie! You look absolutely beautiful; from what I understand, you can breathe more clearly, and Dr. Dara did an incredible job.”
