After launching the Pixel 7 and Pixel 7 Pro, it appears that Google isn’t resting on its laurels quite yet. The company is rumored to be hard at work developing a secret device that’s believed to be a new high-end Pixel phone that could be added to the Pixel 7 lineup.
Leading up to the release of the Pixel 7 series, we learned that the Pixel 7 had the codename “P10” (Panther) and the Pixel 7 Pro had the codename “C10” (Cheetah) thanks to publicly available code from the Android Open Source Project found by 9To5Google. We also learned that Google was preparing support for a new display codenamed “G10.”
According to 9To5Google, the G10 display has a 120Hz refresh rate, 1440×3120 resolution, and is measured at 71x155mm. This would put the screen on par with the Pixel 7 Pro. But what makes G10 interesting is that it’s reportedly a display made by a Chinese display OEM called BOE — a company that Apple occasionally uses for its supply chain needs. If you’re familiar with how Google typically builds its Pixel phones, then you know that its displays are made by Samsung.
A new report from 91Mobiles seems to have further corroborated this leak about the G10. In collaboration with tipster Kuba Wojciechowski, 91Mobiles says their findings suggest a device that could be similar in shape to the Pixel 7 Pro.
It’s possible that the G10 could just be a prototype of the next generation of the Pixel phone. Or it could be a new entry in the Pixel 7 series. There are not enough details available to know for sure. But what do you think G10 could be? Give us all of your guesses in the comments below.
