Fortune magazine has hired Benjamin Snyder to be a managing editor.
He will be focused on hiring and recruiting, launching training and editorial strategy initiatives, kicking off partnerships with journalism organizations, and supporting career development opportunities.
Snyder previously was a senior managing editor at Business Insider, which he joined in November 2020.
“I actually got my start in journalism at this newsroom many years ago and it’s a dream come true to return to a publication that was instrumental to my own career success,” wrote Snyder on LinkedIn. “I’m thrilled to reconnect with former colleagues and work with a tremendously talented group of journalists.”
Snyder was an audience development editor at Bloomberg News and an associate blog editor at LinkedIn.
He also worked at CNBC’s Make It as leadership editor. Snyder spent the nine months as an assistant managing editor of Odyssey, where he launched a breaking news team to cover trending subjects across the U.S. with over 35 reporters.
Before that, Snyder worked at Fortune.com as an associate editor and a reporter.
