- Well-known Apple analyst Ming-Chi Kuo has said that Apple could launch its foldable iPad in 2024.
- The device is expected to feature a carbon fiber kickstand.
Apple may not launch any new iPads this year, renowned analyst Ming-Chi Kuo has revealed in his latest tweets. However, a big upgrade might be headed to the tablet as soon as next year. According to Kuo, Apple could announce its first-ever folding iPad in 2024.
“Anjie Technology is the new beneficiary of the newly designed folding iPad,” Kuo wrote in his tweet. He added that the foldable iPad will come with a carbon fiber kickstand, which would make it light and durable. The aforementioned company is the supplier of the carbon fiber support frame for the folding iPad, as per Kuo.
Kuo also said that Apple could launch a new iPad mini in the first quarter of 2024. He expects iPad shipments to pick up next year when the folding version of the tablet goes on sale. Our guess is that the foldable iPad would launch in the second half of the year if Kuo’s information is correct.
This isn’t the first time we’ve heard of a foldable iPad. According to Display Supply Chain Consultants (DSCC) analyst Ross Young, Apple is developing foldable displays that are as big as 20 inches in size. A similar report from The Elec previously claimed that Apple is developing a foldable OLED panel that measures 20.25 inches when fully unfolded and 15.3 inches when folded.
