Mariya Abdulkaf has joined The New York Times’ video department as a supervising audience editor.
As per the Times:
“She will guide, analyze, and innovate on Video’s audience and programming strategy, both on-site and off platform. Mariya is part of the Video department’s leadership team and will be responsible for helping develop our data and analytics tools and coordinating projects across the team. She will also work closely with Mike Schmidt and the new social visuals team on strategy and planning for social offerings.”
Recently, Abdulkaf was at The Verge, where she worked for six years, recently, as a senior video producer for special projects. Before that, she was a social video producer and social media manager for video.
She worked at Vox Media and was a production coordinator and Mashable.
Abdulkaf graduated from Vassar College.
