A worthy Galaxy Z Flip 4 rival?

Motorola launched the Razr 2022 in China over two months ago, bringing a more refined foldable phone on paper than its previous efforts. We’ve had to wait a while for wider availability, but the company has finally launched the device in more markets (h/t: GSMArena).

The global Motorola Razr 2022 is identical to the Chinese variant. That means you’re getting a Snapdragon 8 Plus Gen 1 processor, 8GB of RAM, 256GB of storage, and a 3,500mAh battery with 33W wired charging.

What else does it offer?

Motorola’s clamshell foldable also serves up a 6.7-inch folding 144Hz OLED screen. But the big differentiating factor is the external OLED display, delivering a 2.7-inch size that’s much larger than the Galaxy Z Flip 4‘s 1.9-inch external panel. In fact, Motorola lets you use most of the phone’s features on this external screen.

Much like Samsung’s foldables, Motorola also lets you partially fold the device for Flex Mode-style features such as a tripod mode for the cameras.

Don’t expect a cutting-edge camera system here, but the phone’s 50MP+13MP rear camera pairing (main and ultrawide) should get the job done. You’ve also got a 32MP selfie camera on the foldable screen.

Other features include Android 12 with MyUX atop it, an IP52 splash resistance rating, and stereo speakers.

Motorola Razr 2022 pricing and availability

The Razr 2022 is available in select European countries, starting at €1,200 (~$1,183). That makes it a little more expensive than the €1,099 (~$1,083) Galaxy Z Flip 4 in these markets.

However, the device will actually be cheaper than Samsung’s foldable in the UK, coming in at £949 (~$1,075) versus the Z Flip 4’s £999 (~$1,132) price tag.
