The slightest mention of the words “pearlescent” or “almond-shaped” from a client these days has nail artists blindly reaching for their set-in-stone glazed donut nail colorway. The manicure trend — popularized by Hailey Bieber — continues to live up to its copious praise.
Sydney Sweeney, though, has thrown us a curveball. Expect anything less from the two-time Emmy-award nominee? Absolutely not. On September 13, nail artist Zola Ganzorigt shared a clip of the Euphoria actor’s glazed, dipped-in-grey manicure.
Her fusion of metallic gray French tips and pearlescent powder gave the viral nail trend an ombré twist. Like the final act of Lexie Howard’s infamously riveting school play, it’s unexpected… but kind of just what we needed.
As Ganzorigt reveals in an Instagram post dedicated to Sweeney’s Emmys look, the actor’s nails were prepped with the OPI GelColor Stay Classic Base Coat, followed by OPI GelColor Put It In Neutral. The ombré effect began with the OPI GelColor in Clean Slate, then the nail artist topped the look off with the OPI Chrome Effects No-Cleanse Top Coat. Chrome OPI Tin Man Can powder gave the manicure its glazed effect along with a finishing touch of the OPI GelColor Stay Shiny Top Coat.
