  • Michael Cohen says Trump should be very nervous about the possibility of more lawsuits against him.

  • Cohen said the Trump Organization’s Tuesday conviction opened the door for more cases to be filed.

  • Cohen in 2018 pleaded guilty to tax evasion, campaign finance violations, and bank fraud.

Michael Cohen, former President Donald Trump’s onetime lawyer and fixer, says Trump still has plenty to be nervous about despite not being personally convicted in the Trump Organization’s tax fraud lawsuit.

Cohen made the comments in an appearance on MSNBC, where he spoke about how the Trump Organization was on Tuesday found guilty of tax fraud in Manhattan. The judgement means the Trump Organization now has felony status as Trump goes into his third run for president. Trump escaped being personally convicted, but on Tuesday railed against his organization being punished for the fraud charges.

Cohen told MSNBC Trump should be “very nervous” about what’s to come, and said Trump will likely face more criminal exposure. Cohen added that Trump should be anxious that he, too, has spoken to the New York District Attorney’s office more than a dozen times about his work at the company.

“I can tell you he should be very uncomfortable,” Cohen told MSNBC, referring to his own testimony to the District Attorney’s Office.

Cohen in 2018 pleaded guilty to felonies including tax evasion, campaign finance violations, and bank fraud. He was sentenced in December 2018 to three years in prison and was disbarred in February 2019 by the New York Supreme Court. He has since cooperated with the Manhattan District Attorney’s office in their investigation of the former president.

Cohen in September predicted that Attorney General Letitia James’ $250 million civil lawsuit against the Trump Organization will “ultimately terminate” the company. At the time, he said that one or two of Trump’s adult children might have to “fall on the sword for him” to keep him out of trouble.

Trump and his businesses remain embroiled in at least a dozen investigations, including an investigation in Georgia’s Fulton County into whether Trump and his associates tried to interfere in the 2020 presidential election in the state. Another high-profile investigation includes one led by the DOJ into whether Trump mishandled classified and top-secret documents by bringing them to his Mar-a-Lago residence.

A representative at Trump’s post-presidential press office did not immediately respond to Insider’s request for comment.
